Accreditation Committee
The Accreditation Committee is accountable to the Canberra Region Medical Education Council (CRMEC) for the development of standards and accreditation of training positions and institutions.
Functions
The functions of the Accreditation Committee are outlined in Terms of Reference (see below) and include to:
Provide expert advice to the CRMEC on matters relating to accreditation of prevocational medical training and undertake accreditation and monitoring of prevocational trainee medical posts, clinical units, facilities and networks with the ACT Network
Development of processes, guidelines and standards for postgraduate medical training accreditation which are consistent with the national accreditation guidelines and frameworks
Assessment of applications for accreditation of positions against current standards by document review and site visits as appropriate
Advise the ACT Board of the Medical Board of Australia on the institutional requirements for intern training
Accreditation policies, resources and forms
In 2023, the Australian Medical Council is completing its review of the National Prevocational Framework. The CRMEC is undertaking a comprehensive review of procedures throughout 2023 to prepare for the new National Framework that will be introduced in 2024. Health services with prevocational training programs
South East Regional Hospital
South East Regional Hospital was awarded four-year accreditation in March 2023. A CRMEC and HETI accreditation survey team will visit the health service in 2026.
North Canberra Hospital
North Canberra Hospital was awarded four-year accreditation in April 2022. A CRMEC accreditation survey team will visit the health service in April 2026.
Canberra Health Services
Canberra Health Services was awarded four-year accreditation in September 2021. A CRMEC accreditation survey team will visit the health service in July 2025.
Goulburn Base Hospital
Goulburn Base Hospital was awarded one-year accreditation in July 2024. A CRMEC accreditation survey team will visit the health service in July 2025.
Cooma Hospital
Cooma Hospital was awarded four-year accreditation in December 2022. A CRMEC and HETI accreditation survey team will visit the health service in December 2026.
Moruya Hospital
Moruya Hospital was awarded four-year accreditation in June 2023. A CRMEC and HETI accreditation survey team will visit the health service in May 2027.
