Accreditation Committee

The Accreditation Committee is accountable to the Canberra Region Medical Education Council (CRMEC) for the development of standards and accreditation of training positions and institutions.

Functions

The Accreditation Committee functions are outlined in Terms of Reference and include to:

  • Provide expert advice to the CRMEC on accreditation of prevocational medical training

  • Undertake accreditation and monitoring of prevocational education and training programs within the ACT training region

  • Develop processes and policies for postgraduate medical training accreditation that are consistent with the National Medical Training Framework and National Standards

  • Assess applications for accreditation of positions against the National Standards

  • Advise ACT Board of Medical Board of Australia on accredited intern training programs

Accreditation Resources

In 2024, the Australian Medical Council launched the new National Australian Prevocational Medication Training Framework.  Since 2024, CRMEC has been suporting health services to meet the new Australian National Standards, and has been accrediting PGY1 and PGY2 medical education and training programs against these new National Standards.

South East Regional Hospital

South East Regional Hospital was awarded four-year accreditation in March 2023. An accreditation survey team will visit the health service in 2026.
